My Neighbour the dumplings..
My wife had heard of this place reading about it in a review by her favourite food critic. (She’s now becoming mine too, we have been to some great places on the back of her reviews). Also my wife’s grandfather was Chinese so dim sum has become a way of life for me.
Simply put, if my neighbours dumplings were this good I would be frequently asking for a cup of sugar.
The food was a little different to the dumplings I normally eat. My favourite place for budget dim sum in London is Panda in Leytonstone but MNTD created a posher dumpling. Oriental lanterns in various colours decorated the place. We sat at long solid wooden benches/table strewn with premium soys & vinegars, along with candles in magnum sized sake bottles.
Ordering via a receipt of paper, you choose the quantities you want. They recommend 3 dishes each. We ordered 4!
The crispy wantons are triumph. Deep fried with a sweet chilli dressing, given the option now I could quiet easily of had 4 dishes of these, Amazing! The Sui Mai and Harcau were great. Even if they were a bit ginger heavy for my liking. All this was followed up by a spicy, crispy skinned belly pork which hit all the right notes.
Defo worth a visit....
